Revolution in der 3D-Visualisierung: Der neue StereoVista 3D-Stereo Maus-Cursor

Revolution in 3D visualization: The new StereoVista 3D Stereo open-source 3D viewer

StereoVista – Demonstrator and open-source 3D viewer

Reference implementation for intuitive interaction and navigation

Despite impressive advances in 3D visualization software, most leading industry solutions still lack a unified and intuitive navigation system. Users are often confronted with fragmented interaction paradigms in which camera control, cursor behavior, and stereo settings function inconsistently. This leads to irritation, interrupts immersion, and slows down workflows—especially when working with stereo visualization, where depth perception and precision are critical.

The solution:
The 3D Mouse Cursor StereoVista

Intuitive. Human-centered: The new StereoVista 3D mouse cursor takes stereoscopic visualization to a whole new level. It’s not just unique—it’s revolutionary. For the first time ever, users can use a fully integrated 3D cursor in stereoscopic environments for more precise, natural, and efficient navigation and interaction with 3D models.

The new StereoVista stereoscopic mouse cursor (SMC) enables extremely intuitive and natural navigation and interaction with 3D content. The dynamic stereo camera (DSC) provides a completely new stereo viewing experience! Seamless switching between two connected devices, the 3D cursor and, for example, the 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse, also enables smoother workflows.

What is the StereoVista 3D mouse cursor?

The 3D mouse cursor is the central control element of a new generation of 3D stereo systems. Instead of flat mouse movements on a 2D screen, it works fully three-dimensionally and moves precisely in the spatial depth of the model. The cursor follows the gaze—or rather, the focus point of the human eye.

The focus point in the 3D model is always where the user is looking.

Navigation becomes as intuitive as if it were “thought”

Control is human-centered, not technically controlled.

Goal: Making complex 3D worlds easy to manage

3D stereo visualization is indispensable in many industries today—from geodata to simulation to digital engineering. However, its use has often been complex: many parameters such as focal length, camera distance, and field of view had to be set manually, which took valuable time and could lead to inconsistent results.

“With the development of the new, revolutionary 3D mouse cursor StereoVista, we want to show that 3D stereo can be even better and easier thanks to an optimal stereoscopic user experience and intuitive navigation.”
Josef J. Schneider, founder & CEO | Schneider Digital GmbH

The main advantages of the 3D mouse cursor for your application

Intuitive navigation in 3D spaces
Thanks to full integration with depth perception, users can move around the model effortlessly—without cumbersome switching, control commands, or operating hurdles.
Automated parameter control
Camera distance, focal length, field of view, and pop-out effect are automatically adjusted to the user’s real environment—in real time.
Zoom to cursor
The 3D mouse cursor allows you to zoom in precisely on the focus point—right where the cursor is “standing” in space.
Zero point control
The visual depth begins at the viewer’s eye level – the zero point corresponds exactly to the position of the cursor in 3D space.
Better user experience
Fewer clicks, no presets, natural working. Working with complex 3D data feels like real interaction — not like operating a machine.

StereoVista – Designed for people, not technology!

The goal

The most important idea during development: putting people at the center. The visual perception of the eye, natural movement in space, and the desire for intuitive work were the focus of the design.

The result

A tool that needs no explanation and is immediately understood. A system that adapts to the user—not the other way around.

Open and free of charge for everyone

A tool for the entire industry

Schneider Digital is particularly committed to sharing knowledge with software developers. The 3D mouse cursor was not only developed for the company’s own hardware — it is also available to partners and the entire market free of charge.
