In his series of articles for Surveying News, author Josef Schneider explains 3D monitors: They offer impressive depth perception through stereoscopic effects and are particularly useful for professionals in the GIS and mapping sectors. There are two main technologies: active 3D monitors use shutter glasses that quickly switch between two images, while passive monitors use polarized glasses to display two slightly different images simultaneously. 3D monitors improve data visualization, enable more accurate analysis, and speed up work processes. They are used in numerous fields such as architecture, road planning, and laser scanning.
